The Ugly Mug is a favorite of many locals both for a delicious bite to eat or as the place to go in the evenings to meet your friends and have fun. The Ugly Mug motto is Mix a little folly with your wisdom, a little nonsense is pleasant now and then. They are good to go with some of the better traditions in town.

The menu is extensive for a “gin mill” with a good kitchen. They offer appetizers from clams on the Half Shell to Stuffed Hot Peppers and Mini Tacos. You can always get anything on the menu at any hour that they are open so the lunch and dinner menu are the same. Sandwiches range from cold cuts, to burgers to their special Mug Combinations which include: #2 Corned Beef, Cole Slaw & Russian Dressing, #9 Ham, Turkey & Swiss Cheese Club. The Chef’s Special is Hot Beef on Kaiser roll with Potato Salad. Steak sandwiches include Cheese Steaks, Pizza Cheese Steaks and Chicken Cheese Steaks. All are popular.

Another Special is their renowned “Ocean Burger” which is a burger topped with shrimp and sharp cheddar cheese. The Ugly Mug also specializes in entrees such as a 4 piece Chicken Dinner, Filet Mignon, NY Strip Steak, Full Rack of BBQ Ribs, Ugly Mug Surf & Turf, or any of the many seafood platters such as Cape Island Crab Patty, Shrimp Mug which is a casserole of shrimp broiled with sharp cheese and Breaded, Fried or Broiled fresh catch of the day.

Atmosphere: One large room that is cozy and intimate with booths and tables and a large square bar in the center of the room. This is a traditional pub that caters to the friendly locals who don’t mind sharing one of their favorite spots. The Mug has a new dining room – it is a totally non-smoking bar and dining room with windows overlooking the pedestrian mall. a bright sunny place with air conditioning for those who do not want to eat outdoors. During the warm weather, you can dine al fresco – on the patio on the Mall. Fine food and great spot to people watch.

The Ugly Mug is decorated with mugs, hanging from the ceiling, – which belong to the members of the Ugly Mug Club. Each member has his own drinking mug as they did in the old barber shop days. All the mugs you see facing the ocean belong to deceased members.

The Mug is more of a family restaurant during the day and during dinner hours. After 10, it turns into one of the most “happening” night spot in town with music, live or DJ, and a pub like atmosphere.

Casual and Comfortable Attire. Smoking is permitted. Handicap access is provided. Accepts most major credit cards. Wait staff is friendly and attentive and the bar tenders know their trade.
